Keybind Editor
Change your Star Citizen controls, then load them straight into the game
How this works
- Open your layout file to change what you already have, or start from the game's default controls. Your file is opened by your browser and never uploaded.
- Find a control with the search box (by name, or by key, like "L Alt + H"), or open a group. Click the key next to it to change it.
- In the box that opens, press the key, click the mouse button or press the stick button you want. Pick the Joystick or Gamepad tab for those. Not set removes it, Back to default puts the game's own back.
- A warning shows if your new key is already used by something else in the same part of the game. My changes and Clashes list just those.
- Press Save layout file, put it in your Mappings folder and pick it in game under Control Profiles (the steps are at the bottom of the page). Your changes are kept in this browser until you start again.
Start with your own controls
Drop your saved layout file here (it is called layout_name_exported.xml), or choose it below. Everything you changed in game shows up, ready to edit.
Your file never leaves your computer. It is opened by your browser, changed there and saved back to your computer. Nothing is uploaded.
Where do I find my layout file?
- In game, open Options, then Keybindings, then Advanced Controls Customization.
- Open Control Profiles and choose Save Control Settings. Give it a name.
- The file is saved in
...\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE\user\client\0\Controls\Mappings\
Loading the list of controls...
No controls match. Try fewer words, or press Clear all.
Using your layout in game
- Press Save layout file above.
- Put the file in
...\StarCitizen\LIVE\user\client\0\Controls\Mappings\(make the folder if it is not there). - In game, open Options, Keybindings, Advanced Controls Customization, then Control Profiles, and pick your profile.
- Or open the console with the ~ key and type
pp_rebindkeys layout_my_layout_exported
Sticks the wrong way round? Type pp_resortdevices joystick 1 2 in the console to swap them.
Obsidian Squad's own tool, not made by Cloud Imperium. The list of controls comes from the game's default control profile and is checked weekly. Always keep a copy of your old layout file.
